Crittenden Estate Los Hermanos Homenaje 2012 Mornington Peninsula Grenache Mataro Tempranillo Simple Palates Seriously

AUD$34 direct from winery. This is a blend of 43% Garnacha (Grenache), 38% Mataro (Mourvedre) and 19% Tempranillo. Parcels of destemmed fruit fermented by wild yeasts were racked into 3rd-use oak hogsheads and barrels where they aged separately for 10 months before blending. This is a very interesting interpretation of the Spanish-styled dry, rich fruit blend as this is obviously a cool climate wine. However, there is ample acidity to match the good fruit weight. Intense crimson ruby colour, a youthful fragrance of blackcurrant, raspberry cordial, glazed cherry, summer florals and finely powdered spice. Dry, med+ bodied wine with a silky texture. 13.5% alc. Lovely acidity provides a core freshness to the rich dark berry flavours, and the fine tannins offer a plump finish. Drink now – 2015. 91/100.
