Man O War Dreadnought Syrah 2008, Waiheke Island, NZ

Man O War Dreadnought Syrah Shiraz 2008 Waiheke Island New Zealand Simple Palates Seriously

AUD$46 from PWS. The current vintage is 2010, and this is one of the bottles I had kept aside. Intense black ruby purple colour. A developing forward nose that is ripe with blackberries, mulberries and earthy spice. Dry, med+ – full-bodied syrah with rich refreshing acidity, ticking to the side that slaps you awake in the morning. An even slather of chewy tannins are present, sufficient to balance the initial acidity and fruit, then giving body to the persistent finish. Lovely flavours of blackberries and ripe black cherry. Drink now – 2018.  91+/100.
