$25 for 375ml. I’m sitting here after dinner on a cool night as we near the end of winter, got a little blue brie, salted cashew nuts and chopped up dried fruit. This little drop of Kalleske’s 2011 Shiraz VP is turning out to be a lovely accompaniment. Deep black purple-crimson colour with a slight rim. Fresh aromas of baked chocolate, blueberry, fruit cake, cloves and dried fig. Rich flavours of blackcurrant liquor, dark berry fruit, 20% alc, the use of brandy spirit is controlled to impart a soothing layer of warm flavours. Subtle tannins give some grip on the finish which yields a slight raisin sweetness. I’m wishing for some dark chocolate now! Drink now – 2020. 91/100.
