Yeastie Boys Gunnamatta IPA, Wellington, NZ

2013-04-01 13.03.20

$8/btl from Prince Wine Store Essendon. This highly floral IPA won the People’s Choice Award at the 2012 Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPuler. Copper amber colour and pours a thick head. There was some residue at the bottom of my bottle, and the froth just kept on rolling so much so that I had to pour into a glass. It is highly hopped having been made with Pacific Jade, Motueka, Pacifica and Southern Cross hops. Oh, and the notes of dried blueberry tea come from the addition of Earl Grey Blue Flower leaves. Medium+ moutfeel, slightly creamy, nice bitter orange citrus flavours, but these get swamped by the fruity earl grey flavours that kick in on the back. Quite an annoying distraction in my opinion. Still, overall a nice drinking beer, more attractive on the aromatic profile than on the taste profile.
