Bought this for $33 from Nick’s Wine Merchants. A lovely wine which is great value for money, and for a limited production cuvee, I’d suggest stocking up if you like this particular wine. The 2009 vintage is a great vintage for the grenache half of the Rhone Valley (stay tuned, the 2010 is a blockbuster), and in great years, the rule is to buy the smaller labels. This wine embodies that rule. Clear intense ruby colour, youthful lifted aromas of dried cranberries, kirsch liquor, finely ground Moroccan spice and smoked pork ribs or rabbit. Dry, full-bodied wine, silky texture, the tannins are powdery which might be due to the use of 100% whole bunch. This is a complex wine laden with pure fruit, rich and dense, black cherries, cranberries, slightly savoury on the finish. Drink now – 2020. 92/100.
I had this wine with a paprika and chilli rubbed lamb fillets, with zucchini, snow peas, pomegranate and crumbled fetta.
