Cullen White blend 2011, Margaret River, WA

2013-01-27 15.00.47

$25 from Vintage Cellars, $20 from Winestar. As expected for the headliner of Australia’s biodynamic movement, this is a naturally fermented blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Verdelho and Riesling. Very pale yellow colour. Youthful, fresh grassy notes with creamy, but peppery, lemon fruit. Dry, med+ bodied white wine, high acidity, 13% alc. A straight-foward flavour profile, lemon fruit, lemon rind, slightly grassy, with savouriness on the upper palate. Overall feel is slightly plump, probably owing to partial aging in barrels for two months. Drink now – 2015. 90/100. Have this with BBQ’d prawns or grilled chicken.
