Robert Sinskey POV 2007, Carneros, Napa, USA

I had this lovely wine with my Cape Grim fillet at Rockpool the other night. There’s an interesting thread on the Snooth forum regarding organic wines and Robert Sinskey was mentioned, so when I saw this on the wine list, no reason not to give it a go. Here are the POV07 winemaker notes (pdf file).

A Bordeaux blend made in the maritime climate of Carneros. Intense purple ruby colour, youthful aromas of blackberry, ripe black plums and violets. A hint of crushed herbs with some oak notes, but this is all the way through fruit, fruit and more fruit. Full-bodied wine, smooth velvet texture with high acidity and tightly coiled fine tannins. Well-rounded in the mid-palate into a long finish. A high quality wine. Drink now – 2017. 90/100.
