d’Arenberg The Noble Prankster Chardonnay Semillon 2008, Adelaide Hills, SA

Purchased direct from winery. Over the years, I have had many of Chester’s dessert wines on occassion but the peak of the mountain – the Daddy Long Legs rare Tawny port continues to elude me. d’Arenberg has many value-for-money red wines worth seeking out.

Clear, medium yellow colour. Clean, youthful forward bouquet of nectarine, marmalade and sweet baby grass. Sweet wine with rich flavour balanced by ripe acidity. 13.5% alc, it has flavours of nectarine compote, apricot juice, bush honey and nashi pear on the finish. Lovely with a goat cheese. Drink now – 2020. 92/100.
