Terre del Barolo Barolo di Castiglione Falletto 1997, Barolo, Piedmonte

I bought this bottle from Enoteca Sileno for $102, discounted down from $185. Never tried this label before, and from a good vintage so I took a gamble. I lost.

With a rusty brick colour, the wine showed its age when it strained to hard to present fragmented memories of blackberry, black pepper and herbs. Some blackcurrant flavours still trying to claw back past glory from a stellar vintage. Weary acidity and dry tannins. 14% alc. This wine is past it, I can’t recommend buying it.
