Massena Moonlight Run 2009, Barossa Valley

$25 direct from winery. This wine is a beautiful blend of Grenache 54%, Shiraz 24%, Mataro 16%, Cinsault 6%, and the good 2009 vintage has certainly helped blast the previous quality highs of Massena wines right out of the barrel. Clear, intense black ruby colour. Clean, youthful aromas of kirsch liquor, sweet black plums, blackberry brownie, baked raisins and fresh milk chocolate. A dry, full-bodied wine of silky texture that weighs in at 15% alc but this doesn’t make its presence felt. There is a truckload of refreshing acidity to prop the rich, vibrant flavours of cherries, blood plums, black plum skins for a hint of bitterness and blackberries. An even slate of dry tannins that line the roof of your palate balance out the long soothing finish. A fantastic enjoyment at this price. Drink now – 2022. 93+/100.
